- Water-resistant parka - offered on board (not children sizes ; in case of consecutive cruises, only one complimentary parka).

During the days spent on board, you are advised to wear comfortable clothes or casual outfits. The entire ship is air-conditioned, so a light sweater, a light jacket or a shawl may be necessary. When moving about in the public areas of the ship and the decks, light but comfortable shoes are recommended.

In the evening, you are advised to wear smart-casual attire, especially when dining in our restaurants where wearing shorts and tee-shirts is not allowed.

Kayaking - Le Commandant Charcot
You will make the most of the sailing opportunities and weather and ice conditions to glide along on the clear waters or between the ice floes and get as close as possible to the immaculate nature of the poles. Supervised by licenced expert guides, you will try your hand in a kayak- a craft favoured by the Inuits for at least 4,000 years. The kayak was initially used for hunting and fishing; for you, it will be a means of making the most of your adventure on the White Continent or in the Far North.*

A natural paradise, Smøla is an island surrounded by an archipelago of thousands of small islands, islets and reefs, all bathed in an extraordinary light. The sheep freely graze the moorland. Ocean and fresh water meet, forming bays, ponds and pools of brackish water conducive to the development of a high biodiversity. In winter, the island serves as a refuge to numerous seabird species. One of these is the sea eagle, or white-tailed eagle – a protected species of which the densest population is found here. The island’s inhabitants subsist primarily on fishing and will share their culinary traditions with you by introducing you to some local products. If you are feeling adventurous, you can even try your hand at fishing in the crystal-clear waters or you can visit the island of Hitra.

A must-see stopover in Norway, located halfway between Bergen and Trondheim, Geiranger offers the stunning beauty of a natural decor, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will be able to admire the splendour of the sheer cliffs, dark rocks and crystal-clear water that make the place famous, like the majestic and mythical Seven Sisters waterfall. The sides of the fjord offer many possibilities for hiking: the Eagle’s Road takes you up to a steep stretch offering a gorgeous panoramic view. Surrounded by a multitude of islands, fjords and majestic mountains, the town of Ålesund surprises many visitors. In fact, it is internationally renowned for its Art nouveau architecture. After the terrible fire of 1904 which reduced a large part of the town to ashes, Norwegian architects inspired by the Art nouveau style contributed to its reconstruction, with a very picturesque result. Not far from Ålesund, you will also discover Giske, the native island of Rollon, the great Viking leader who commanded the Norse expeditions to Normandy, or the beautiful island of Godoy and the village of Alnes, which offers a grandiose panorama over the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding islands.

Nordfjordeid is a small town lying south of Alesund, nestling in one of the arms of the Nordfjorden and its wild and magnificent shores. Between valleys with abundant vegetation and mountainous terrain, nature here offers a 360-degree view which was conducive to the early settlement of Viking communities, judging by the large number of tombs, among the country’s largest and richest. You may get to deepen your knowledge of the Nordic culture and traditions at Sagastad, a surprising museum with interactive exhibitions and home, among other sights, to the Myklebust, one of the world’s largest Viking ships, measuring 30 metres (98 feet) in length.

Nestled in the heart of the fjord country, less than 200 kilometres from Bergen, the picturesque village of Flåm – pronounced Flôm – offers you an experience of authentic Norway. You can mosey around the brightly coloured streets and admire the majestic contours of the surrounding mountains. The town is also the departure point for the mythical train route Flamsbana, 20 kilometres long, whose journey offers a superb view of the scenery, as sublime as it is pristine. This attraction makes Flåm one of the country’s main tourist destinations.

Nordfjordeid is a small town nestling at the end of an arm of the gigantic Nordfjord. Featuring valleys with abundant vegetation and mountainous terrain, nature here offers a 360-degree view that was conducive to the early settlement of Viking communities, as evidenced by the large number of tombs, some of the country’s largest and richest. You will be able to deepen your knowledge of Nordic culture and traditions at the Sagastad Viking Centre, a surprising museum with interactive exhibitions, also home to the Myklebust, one of the world’s largest Viking ships, measuring 30 metres (98 feet) in length. In addition to its stunning setting, the town is known for its many breeders of Norwegian farm horses, the Fjord horse, offering the opportunity for wonderful hikes in the surrounding area.

The small and charming capital of the Shetland Islands, with its sea front of old houses and narrow streets, offering travellers its old districts and a warm port atmosphere. Geopark Shetland, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located to the north. Incredibly well-preserved archaeological sites and ruins prove that the islands’ occupation dates back to the first Neolithic colonies. The Shetland Museum and Archives recounts the Shetlands’ history of heritage and culture: Lerwick’s abundant waters were even fished by the Dutch in the past.

Located at the end of Byfjord, Bergen was the capital of Norway in the 12th and 13th Centuries and has preserved some very beautiful monuments from the time when it was home to royalty. Wandering through Bergen’s streets means going back in time, in search of the hidden treasures that have been listed as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. A veritable openair museum, Bergen is home to a thriving artistic community of painters, potters, jewellers. The Bergen cable car offers you a splendid panorama over the port and the surrounding fjords. Do not miss the visit to the old quarter with its narrow streets, a testimony of the power of the hanseatic League that controlled trade in Northern Europe at the end of the Middle Ages.
Journey to Polar Park
Travel across Norway’s scenic winter landscapes for a visit to the impressive Polar Park. Located at the 69° northern latitude, this reserve is the northernmost wildlife park in the world. The park is home to a large variety of Arctic mammals, including wolf, lynx, wolverine, mush oxen, elk, reindeer, mountain fox and badger.
From the pier, embark on a picturesque journey by coach from Narvik to the park. You will cross the 2,500-foot-long Rombak Bridge and continue along the Herjansfjord before heading inland through the birch tree forests of the Gratangs Valley.
At Polar Park, you will be able to walk along a 2½-mile-long asphalt path that will allow you to observe the animals in their enclosures. The living spaces are large—the park boasts the world’s biggest area-per-animal ratio—so be patient and keep watch for the inhabitants.
Then, you will enjoy a light lunch at the park before returning to your ship.

Participants must wear water- and wind-proof winter clothes and flat shoes. We recommend you take binoculars with you. Depending on the temperatures and amount of snow that falls, the grounds may be slippery or even pure ice! This tour involves to walk uphill and downhill, on partly uneven grounds with gravel and maybe snow, depending on the weather. This excursion is very strenuous and requires to walk, at least, 1.2 mile (2 km). Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.

Arctic Train transports you 43 kilometres through a desolate, wild and beautiful landscape along the Ofot line. The line stretches from Narvik in Nordland to Kiruna in Sweden and is Norway's most northerly railway. From the ice-blue fjord in Narvik to the bare mountains in Sweden, there are several historical events that form a dramatic backdrop for this excursion.
The construction of the Ofotbanen started at the end of the 19th century to ensure access to an ice-free export port for the huge iron ore deposits from northern Sweden. Itinerant workers, so-called "rallers" sought their fortune in what was referred to as Europe's "Klondyke", and at most over 5,000 people were involved in the construction of the track. As an export route for Europe's largest and most important iron ore deposits, the route was particularly important to control during the Second World War.
During your panoramic trip, cinamon buns and hot beverages will be served in the train.

Board your coach with a guide for a sightseeing tour of Bronnoysund and the herb farm.
Since its inception in 1988, the herb farm has grown herbs at Hildurs. The herb garden is a magnificent sight and will be an absolute pleasure both for your own kitchen and you as a guest.
The contents of the herb garden vary from week to week as we grow and harvest many of the herbs ourselves for our own kitchen. There are separate sections for culinary herbs, medicinal herbs, poisonous plants, and a biblical garden. Roses, perennials and rhododendrons in just the right proportions form a colourful frame around the farm.
After enjoying some refreshments in the coziness of the farm, you will drive back to the pier in Bronnoysund.

From the pier, board your local coach and enjoy your trip through the beautiful Brønnøysund before reaching your hiking spot.
Today's walk will take you to the top of Torghatten mountain. With the characteristic hole right through the mountain, this is one of the most recognizable and iconic places along the Norwegian coast. According to local legend, the mountain was once the hat of a sorcerer king, which he used to save a young sorceress from an arrow.
Spend around half an hour getting up the hilly path to where the hole starts. The hole is 35 metres high, 160 metres long, and between 15 and 20 metres wide - it is actually large enough for one of Hurtigturen's ships to pass through. Once you get up to the hole, you will be rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view of the islands off the Helgeland coast. You will take the same route down from the mountain, and finish with a bite to eat and something hot to drink.

After a sightseeing tour by bus around the cute town of Brønnøysund, enjoy impressive scenery as you cross the magnificent bridge to the Norwegian Aquaculture Centre in Toft.
Upon arrival, your guide will tell you all about salmon fishing culture in Norway. You will see the salmons and you will take part in feeding these fascinating creatures. You will also hear about the technology that contributes to growing salmon from egg to fish. There is even an opportunity to see the fish from up close with an underwater camera.
The Norwegian coast's cool and clear waters offer prime conditions for sustainable and responsible aquaculture. As a result, Norway is one of the world’s largest exporters of fish and seafood with around 37 million people around the globe enjoying the country’s produce.
Sample it yourself as you end the tour with a taste of the salmon that is so internationally loved.

From the pier, board your coach for a 1 ¼ hour drive to Dale Farm. At the head of the famous Geirangerfjord, the coach will drive you up the "Eagle's Road". Enjoy a photo stop at the Eagle's Bend, a wide curve from where there is a splendid view to the fjord and the mountain all around. You may see a glimpse of the waterfalls "the Seven Sisters" as well as some abandoned moutain farms clinging to the sheer cliff sides.
Then, you will continue towards the Eiddal Village, passing the highest point of the road at 624 metres above sea level before arriving to the next village called Norddal. Here is established the Dale Farm, producing goat milk and goat cheese. You will be impressed by the scenery before being invited to meet some of the farm animals like the goats and the fjord horse which is a blond pony native to the West coast, sturdy and formerly used as an racehorse.
You will get an introduction to the cheese making of this farm, still using traditional method of production. Here are produced both white and brown goat cheese. You will have the opportunity to taste some of their cheese and caramels.
Reboard the coach and return to Geiranger via the same scenic road.
- During winter season, participants must wear warm-thermal, water- and wind-proof clothes. Landscapes can still be snow-covered in the early season. You will have the possibility to purchase local products of the farm. Credit cards are not accepted. Local currency, Euro and US dollars are accepted. This tour is limited to 30 participants.

Upon arrival, after a short safety briefing and putting on your zipline equipment, start your adventure in front of the splendid UNESCO World Heritage panorama of the Geirangerfjord. From treetop to treetop, over gorges and waterfalls, you whiz down the four secured ziplines. That is the most amazing way to discover this nature beauty.
Then, get back to the ship on your own.

Giske & Godoy islands
From the pier, you will start the tour with a short panoramic city tour through the Art Nouveau district of Alesund. The city's architectural character is in fact the result of a catastrophe - the great fire in 1904 and those young architects who participated in the rebuilding of the city were inspired by the Art Nouveau style.
Then you will drive up to Mount Aksla from where you have a beautiful view of the city, the islands and the Sunnmore Mountains.
Leaving the city you will drive through some of the world's largest undersea tunnels connecting the islands with the mainland. Today the approximately 6,300 inhabitants have a 'ferry-free connection' with the rest of Norway. To reach the islands you must traverse bridges and undersea tunnels, the longest being 2.5 miles. Reach Giske Island, which had a unique position during the Viking period.
The famous Gange - Rolv, or Rollo, was born on Giske. This great warrior conquered Normandie in 911 and became the ancestor of William the Conqueror, sire to the English Royal Family. The old marble church at Giske was built as a family chapel for one of most powerful families. The church is built in the Norman style and is a typical product of the architecture prior to 1200. In 1756 the church was restored. The local artist Jacob S. Giskegaard created the new interior including a new pulpit, and a new alter piece.
Continue your visit proceeding to Godoy Island and Alnes village located on the seaside. You will see a typical fishing village with a well-preserved and picturesque architecture. Its main attraction is its lighthouse. You will get the opportunity to climb up its stairs (87 steps) to enjoy a beautiful look-out to the Atlantic Ocean and the surroundings islands.
After this visit, you will return to your ship.

Ålesund, the largest town on the northwest coast of Norway, has a spectacular setting: stretching over three islands, near the ocean and backdropped by impressive mountain-peaks. The town centre was destroyed by a fire in 1904, but rebuilt shortly after in the characteristic Art Nouveau architectural style of the period. Today Ålesund has a population of approximately 40,000, but the town centre is relatively small and easy to cover on foot.
From the pier, you will start on foot with a visit to the Art Nouveau museum, located in the old pharmacy building. The museum provides interesting insight into the fire of 1904 and the creative Art Nouveau period.
After your visit, you will continue your walking tour. Your guide will put particular emphasis on presenting the importance of fisheries in Norway's biggest fish export harbour and, of course, you will be shown a multitude of examples of the picturesque Art Nouveau style that has made Ålesund famous.
The tour will continue uphill to the quaint little park at the foot of mount Aksla. Here, you will find exotic trees and plants as well as a memorial stone dedicated to the German emperor Wilhelm II, for whom the main street in town is named after. Furthermore, you will see the statue of the Viking "Gange-Rolf" who sailed from Ålesund to what is today Normandy (France), named after the Norwegian settlers. From the park, you could choose to continue to ascend mount Aksla, where your will be rewarded for your efforts with a spectacular view. Or you could wander about in the park or just sit and have a rest before the return to the pier and your ship.

Sugarlump Mountain hike
From the pier, board your local coach for a short scenic drive, through Alesund, the base of Sugarlump Mountain, located on the Island of Hessa.
Upon arrival, meet your experienced guide and begin a one-hour hike that starts at 164 feet above sea level and climbs to an elevation of 1,000 feet along a narrow hiking trail. The round trip is approximately 2.5 miles over varied terrain. As you trek, you’ll learn more about the indigenous flora and fauna and take in the panoramic views of the city of Alesund, Borgundfjord, and the Sunnmore Mountains.
At the conclusion of your hike, reboard your coach and relax on the return to port.

Nordfjordeid walk & Sagastad
From the pier, meet your local guide and start your walking exploration.
Walk past Malakoff, the old military camp which is now used to host an annual rock festival for the past 20 years for up to thirty thousand people. Pass several memory stones where the locals pay their respect to the soldiers who died in the different wars. Especially the statue «Sørgande Mor», by Dyre Vaa, the grieving mother, depicting the mothers` loss due to a war.
Continue and discover other sites of interest during your stroll such as the old wooden houses with green gardens in between, the church of Eid, the Opera House. While on the walk, you will be treated with a local cinnamon bun and a cup of coffee or tea.
Then, reach Sagastad and the Myklebust Viking Ship, Norway’s largest viking ship that had ever been found has been reconstructed. The ship is exhibited in the Sagastad Visitor Centre where the ship was found. There is a digital and a physical exhibition about the Vikings, the findings and boat building traditions.

This excursion rewards you with superb views of the Nordfjord, the fifth longest fjord in Norway and Hornindal Lake, the deepest lake in Northern Europe.
From the pier, board your local coach and start your scenic drive. Head towards the viewpoints Kvalen & Nos viewpoint where you have a magnificent view from above 500 meters over sea level into the Nordfjord region.
After short photo stops, your journey continues along the fjord. Once we have almost reached the end of the Nordfjord, we turn left and inland towards Lake Hornidal. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains we enjoy that panorama along the lake back towards Nordfjordeid.

From the pier, board your coach for the short transfer to the hiking meeting point.
Upon arrival, start your adventure after a short safety briefing with your hiking guide. The hike will take you to the top of Mount Veten - 566 metres above sea level. The tour will start at about 200 metres above sea level. The trail takes you along a beautiful scenery before you reach the top of the mount.
At the top, you will be impressed by the fantastic view of the fjords and mountain peaks towards Alfoten and the glacier. You will see three different fjord arms and mountains in all directions.
Then, enjoy the hike back to the coach.

Vatnahalsen railway
Your tour begins in Flam, a small village on the Aurlandsfjord. From the pier, you will walk to the railway station located next to the port.
The Flam Railway line winds its way up the steep and narrow Flam Valley. Travel along the Flam river, one of the best salmon rivers in the West Country. On the right hand side you will have the opportunity to see the Rjoande Waterfall and the impressive peak of Vibmesnosi. After passing through the longest tunnel at Naali, a most fantastic sight is revealed. To climb the 300 m high Myrdalsberg the line is built on 4 levels. From here you can observe 3 of them, the train standing on the fourth. Then, make a brief stop to admire the Kjosfossen Waterfall.
Upon arrival at Vatnahalsen, refreshments will be served at Vatnahalsen Hotel, a well-known ski resort, very popular during summer and autumn when people come to hike in the mountains or cycle on the old navvy-road.
After the break, enjoy the return with the same railway back to Flam.

From the pier, board your local coach and head to Gudvangen, Field of the Gods, where you will have the opportunity to visit the Viking Village of Njardarheimr.
This entertaining and interactive experience allows you to engage with the local Vikings and explore their homes and workshops. The Village is a reconstruction of a typical settlement that would have existed over a thousand years ago. History is brought to life through the residents of the Village as they impress you with their axe-throwing and archery skills and demonstrate traditional handicraft methods.
Join in the fun and give some of the activities a go, or get to know the locals better by asking questions and listening to their entertaining tales.
After the visit at the Viking Village we will return to Flam for a visit to the Ægir brewery. Learn more about beer making and this local brand before enjoying a delicious beer tasting.

Three unique and exciting ways to see one of Norway’s most scenic areas. Immerse yourself in one of Norway’s most picturesque regions by rail, on foot and with a thrilling zip line ride.
Hop on the train at Flam station and enjoy the relaxing climb into the mountains. This world-famous railway will treat you to awe-inspiring views of sheer cliffs and verdant hillsides dotted with summer farms and shimmering lakes. Hop off briefly for photos at the majestic Kjosfossen Waterfall, where rushing waters fall 300 feet and smash into the rocky hillside.
At Vatnahalsen, the penultimate station on the line, gear up to ride the longest zip-line in Scandinavia. Feel free as a bird and soak up the incredible views as you soar high above the beautiful landscape, zooming down the 4,500-foot line.
With your feet firmly on the ground in Kaardal, follow your guide on a downhill hike back to the valley floor. Enjoy the peaceful countryside as you make your way to Blomheller station to re-board the train and return to Flam.

Mount Floyen hike
Your tour starts at the pier where you will meet your guide and walk to Fløibanen station.
From the lower station of Fløibanen, the ride takes approximately 8 minutes to the top of Mount Fløien at some 1,000 feet (320 m). On the way up, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Bergen and surroundings. Fløien hills are a very popular recreation area used by the locals all the year round.
The hiking tour starts on one of the many gravel roads, through slightly hilly woodland to the little, idyllic lake called Skomakerdiket, then uphill to join the main path, Blåmansveien. As you get higher, the view gets better! The fjord with a multitude of islands lies beneath you as well as the town, and far out to the West the North Sea.
Head up the Rundemansvegroad and, as you leave the trees behind, there is a wide view to all sides when reaching the highest point, Rundemanen, at some 1,800 feet.
After a well-deserved break, you will return to the Funicular station for the ride back, and join your ship after a 15-minute walk back.

Bryggen walking tour
Bergen is a city full of contrasts, a mixture of new and old side by side. This walking tour takes you along the Bergenhus fortress dating back to the Middle Ages with the old coronation hall and the tower of Rosenkranz.
Shortly after, reach Bryggen, a city composed of old Hanseatic merchant buildings which had been damaged in 1702, when a disastrous fire struck the area. After the fire, they were rebuilt to look as they had during the Middle Ages. The whole area is now protected and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The guided tour will lead you up one of the narrow alleyways running between the rows of houses. Today, artists and craftsmen have moved in, and facing the harbour are restaurants and shops of various kinds. The Hanseates settled in Bergen in the middle of the 14th century. They had the monopoly on the trade with Northern Norway for nearly 300 years that was a barter trade: the Norwegians from the North part of the country brought their stock fish, dried cod, to Bergen and went back with grain, spices, textiles etc.
Discover St Mary's church from outside, the oldest stone building in town. In former days, it was called "the German church" because it was solely used by the Hanseatic merchants who have adorned the church over the centuries with several precious objects.
Thereafter, walk on to Schötstuene, a series of assembly rooms. The Schötstuene complex is comprised of four assembly rooms and two cookhouses, where the food was prepared and social life went on. You should not miss a visit to the kitchen, neither to the living quarters in the back!
Before returning to the harbour, you will visit the Bryggen museum, an archeological museum housing findings from the Middle Ages.

From the pier, board your local coach for a short drive to Ulriken cable car entrance.
From here, enjoy a five-minute ascent to the top of Mount Ulriken. The city of Bergen is proud of its cable car system, which ascends over 2,100 feet above the sea level in only few minutes. Its highest point is above the tree line, affording a 360-degree view. The view is breathtaking. On the top, refreshments and snacks are served while your guide give you a short brief. Then, you are free to go for a short hike, to take time for contemplation and photographs.
After descending back, get back to your local coach for a short transfer through the city, on the way to the new Fantoft Stave Church, rebuilt after the fire in 1992 that destroyed the old church from 1150. The new church is constructed exactly like the ones that were built in the Middle Ages, using timber from the Sognefjord area north of Bergen. Only 30 of these very typical churches remain nowadays in Norway, when they were at least 800 in the Middle Ages.
On your way back to the pier, enjoy a short city sightseeing.

Journey to Polar Park
Travel across Norway’s scenic winter landscapes for a visit to the impressive Polar Park. Located at the 69° northern latitude, this reserve is the northernmost wildlife park in the world. The park is home to a large variety of Arctic mammals, including wolf, lynx, wolverine, mush oxen, elk, reindeer, mountain fox and badger.
From the pier, embark on a picturesque journey by coach from Narvik to the park. You will cross the 2,500-foot-long Rombak Bridge and continue along the Herjansfjord before heading inland through the birch tree forests of the Gratangs Valley.
At Polar Park, you will be able to walk along a 2½-mile-long asphalt path that will allow you to observe the animals in their enclosures. The living spaces are large—the park boasts the world’s biggest area-per-animal ratio—so be patient and keep watch for the inhabitants.
Then, you will enjoy a light lunch at the park before returning to your ship.

Arctic Train transports you 43 kilometres through a desolate, wild and beautiful landscape along the Ofot line. The line stretches from Narvik in Nordland to Kiruna in Sweden and is Norway's most northerly railway. From the ice-blue fjord in Narvik to the bare mountains in Sweden, there are several historical events that form a dramatic backdrop for this excursion.
The construction of the Ofotbanen started at the end of the 19th century to ensure access to an ice-free export port for the huge iron ore deposits from northern Sweden. Itinerant workers, so-called "rallers" sought their fortune in what was referred to as Europe's "Klondyke", and at most over 5,000 people were involved in the construction of the track. As an export route for Europe's largest and most important iron ore deposits, the route was particularly important to control during the Second World War.

Board your coach with a guide for a sightseeing tour of Bronnoysund and the herb farm.
Since its inception in 1988, the herb farm has grown herbs at Hildurs. The herb garden is a magnificent sight and will be an absolute pleasure both for your own kitchen and you as a guest.
The contents of the herb garden vary from week to week as we grow and harvest many of the herbs ourselves for our own kitchen. There are separate sections for culinary herbs, medicinal herbs, poisonous plants, and a biblical garden. Roses, perennials and rhododendrons in just the right proportions form a colourful frame around the farm.
After enjoying some refreshments in the coziness of the farm, you will drive back to the pier in Bronnoysund.

From the pier, board your local coach and enjoy your trip through the beautiful Brønnøysund before reaching your hiking spot.
Today's walk will take you to the top of Torghatten mountain. With the characteristic hole right through the mountain, this is one of the most recognizable and iconic places along the Norwegian coast. According to local legend, the mountain was once the hat of a sorcerer king, which he used to save a young sorceress from an arrow.
Spend around half an hour getting up the hilly path to where the hole starts. The hole is 35 metres high, 160 metres long, and between 15 and 20 metres wide - it is actually large enough for one of Hurtigturen's ships to pass through. Once you get up to the hole, you will be rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view of the islands off the Helgeland coast. You will take the same route down from the mountain, and finish with a bite to eat and something hot to drink.

After a sightseeing tour by bus around the cute town of Brønnøysund, enjoy impressive scenery as you cross the magnificent bridge to the Norwegian Aquaculture Centre in Toft.
Upon arrival, your guide will tell you all about salmon fishing culture in Norway. You will see the salmons and you will take part in feeding these fascinating creatures. You will also hear about the technology that contributes to growing salmon from egg to fish. There is even an opportunity to see the fish from up close with an underwater camera.
The Norwegian coast's cool and clear waters offer prime conditions for sustainable and responsible aquaculture. As a result, Norway is one of the world’s largest exporters of fish and seafood with around 37 million people around the globe enjoying the country’s produce.

From the pier, board your coach for a 1 ¼ hour drive to Dale Farm. At the head of the famous Geirangerfjord, the coach will drive you up the "Eagle's Road". Enjoy a photo stop at the Eagle's Bend, a wide curve from where there is a splendid view to the fjord and the mountain all around. You may see a glimpse of the waterfalls "the Seven Sisters" as well as some abandoned moutain farms clinging to the sheer cliff sides.
Then, you will continue towards the Eiddal Village, passing the highest point of the road at 624 metres above sea level before arriving to the next village called Norddal. Here is established the Dale Farm, producing goat milk and goat cheese. You will be impressed by the scenery before being invited to meet some of the farm animals like the goats and the fjord horse which is a blond pony native to the West coast, sturdy and formerly used as an racehorse.
You will get an introduction to the cheese making of this farm, still using traditional method of production. Here are produced both white and brown goat cheese. You will have the opportunity to taste some of their cheese and caramels.
Reboard the coach and return to Geiranger via the same scenic road.

From the pier, meet your local guide and head to the nature park on foot. Enjoy the hike along the waterfall path.
Upon arrival, after a short safety briefing and putting on your zipline equipment, start your adventure in front of the splendid UNESCO World Heritage panorama of the Geirangerfjord. From treetop to treetop, over gorges and waterfalls, you whiz down the four secured ziplines. That is the most amazing way to discover this nature beauty.
Then, get back to the ship on your own.

Giske & Godoy islands
From the pier, you will start the tour with a short panoramic city tour through the Art Nouveau district of Alesund. The city's architectural character is in fact the result of a catastrophe - the great fire in 1904 and those young architects who participated in the rebuilding of the city were inspired by the Art Nouveau style.
Then you will drive up to Mount Aksla from where you have a beautiful view of the city, the islands and the Sunnmore Mountains.
Leaving the city you will drive through some of the world's largest undersea tunnels connecting the islands with the mainland. Today the approximately 6,300 inhabitants have a 'ferry-free connection' with the rest of Norway. To reach the islands you must traverse bridges and undersea tunnels, the longest being 2.5 miles. Reach Giske Island, which had a unique position during the Viking period.
The famous Gange - Rolv, or Rollo, was born on Giske. This great warrior conquered Normandie in 911 and became the ancestor of William the Conqueror, sire to the English Royal Family. The old marble church at Giske was built as a family chapel for one of most powerful families. The church is built in the Norman style and is a typical product of the architecture prior to 1200. In 1756 the church was restored. The local artist Jacob S. Giskegaard created the new interior including a new pulpit, and a new alter piece.
Continue your visit proceeding to Godoy Island and Alnes village located on the seaside. You will see a typical fishing village with a well-preserved and picturesque architecture. Its main attraction is its lighthouse. You will get the opportunity to climb up its stairs (87 steps) to enjoy a beautiful look-out to the Atlantic Ocean and the surroundings islands.
After this visit, you will return to your ship.

Ålesund, the largest town on the northwest coast of Norway, has a spectacular setting: stretching over three islands, near the ocean and backdropped by impressive mountain-peaks. The town centre was destroyed by a fire in 1904, but rebuilt shortly after in the characteristic Art Nouveau architectural style of the period. Today Ålesund has a population of approximately 40,000, but the town centre is relatively small and easy to cover on foot.
From the pier, you will start on foot with a visit to the Art Nouveau museum, located in the old pharmacy building. The museum provides interesting insight into the fire of 1904 and the creative Art Nouveau period.
After your visit, you will continue your walking tour. Your guide will put particular emphasis on presenting the importance of fisheries in Norway's biggest fish export harbour and, of course, you will be shown a multitude of examples of the picturesque Art Nouveau style that has made Ålesund famous.
The tour will continue uphill to the quaint little park at the foot of mount Aksla. Here, you will find exotic trees and plants as well as a memorial stone dedicated to the German emperor Wilhelm II, for whom the main street in town is named after. Furthermore, you will see the statue of the Viking "Gange-Rolf" who sailed from Ålesund to what is today Normandy (France), named after the Norwegian settlers. From the park, you could choose to continue to ascend mount Aksla, where your will be rewarded for your efforts with a spectacular view. Or you could wander about in the park or just sit and have a rest before the return to the pier and your ship.

E-biking is just like traditional cycling, but with less pedaling thanks to the bike’s electric motor. After a full briefing, your guide will lead the way as you cruise into the streets. Glide around the heart of colorful Alesund, which is renowned for its unique Art Nouveau style. Hear the story of the fire that destroyed the town in 1904 and admire the intricate façades of the buildings that rose from the ashes, embellished with dragons and flowers, and crowned by a forest of spires and turrets. Make the most of your bike’s motor and head up to a viewpoint on Mount Aksla. From here, soak up a breathtaking vista spanning Ålesund, the surrounding mountains, the sparkling fjords, and the distant Sunnmore Alps.

Sugarlump Mountain hike
From the pier, board your local coach for a short scenic drive, through Alesund, the base of Sugarlump Mountain, located on the Island of Hessa.
Upon arrival, meet your experienced guide and begin a one-hour hike that starts at 164 feet above sea level and climbs to an elevation of 1,000 feet along a narrow hiking trail. The round trip is approximately 2.5 miles over varied terrain. As you trek, you’ll learn more about the indigenous flora and fauna and take in the panoramic views of the city of Alesund, Borgundfjord, and the Sunnmore Mountains.
At the conclusion of your hike, reboard your coach and relax on the return to port.

Nordfjordeid walk & Sagastad
From the pier, meet your local guide and start your walking exploration.
Walk past Malakoff, the old military camp which is now used to host an annual rock festival for the past 20 years for up to thirty thousand people. Pass several memory stones where the locals pay their respect to the soldiers who died in the different wars. Especially the statue «Sørgande Mor», by Dyre Vaa, the grieving mother, depicting the mothers` loss due to a war.
Continue and discover other sites of interest during your stroll such as the old wooden houses with green gardens in between, the church of Eid, the Opera House. While on the walk, you will be treated with a local cinnamon bun and a cup of coffee or tea.
Then, reach Sagastad and the Myklebust Viking Ship, Norway’s largest viking ship that had ever been found has been reconstructed. The ship is exhibited in the Sagastad Visitor Centre where the ship was found. There is a digital and a physical exhibition about the Vikings, the findings and boat building traditions.

This excursion rewards you with superb views of the Nordfjord, the fifth longest fjord in Norway and Hornindal Lake, the deepest lake in Northern Europe.
From the pier, board your local coach and start your scenic drive. Head towards the viewpoints Kvalen & Nos viewpoint where you have a magnificent view from above 500 meters over sea level into the Nordfjord region.
After short photo stops, your journey continues along the fjord. Once we have almost reached the end of the Nordfjord, we turn left and inland towards Lake Hornidal. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains we enjoy that panorama along the lake back towards Nordfjordeid.

From the pier, board your coach for the short transfer to the hiking meeting point.
Upon arrival, start your adventure after a short safety briefing with your hiking guide. The hike will take you to the top of Mount Veten - 566 metres above sea level. The tour will start at about 200 metres above sea level. The trail takes you along a beautiful scenery before you reach the top of the mount.
At the top, you will be impressed by the fantastic view of the fjords and mountain peaks towards Alfoten and the glacier. You will see three different fjord arms and mountains in all directions.
Then, enjoy the hike back to the coach.

Vatnahalsen railway
Your tour begins in Flam, a small village on the Aurlandsfjord. From the pier, you will walk to the railway station located next to the port.
The Flam Railway line winds its way up the steep and narrow Flam Valley. Travel along the Flam river, one of the best salmon rivers in the West Country. On the right hand side you will have the opportunity to see the Rjoande Waterfall and the impressive peak of Vibmesnosi. After passing through the longest tunnel at Naali, a most fantastic sight is revealed. To climb the 300 m high Myrdalsberg the line is built on 4 levels. From here you can observe 3 of them, the train standing on the fourth. Then, make a brief stop to admire the Kjosfossen Waterfall.
Upon arrival at Vatnahalsen, refreshments will be served at Vatnahalsen Hotel, a well-known ski resort, very popular during summer and autumn when people come to hike in the mountains or cycle on the old navvy-road.
After the break, enjoy the return with the same railway back to Flam.

From the pier, board your local coach and head to Gudvangen, Field of the Gods, where you will have the opportunity to visit the Viking Village of Njardarheimr.
This entertaining and interactive experience allows you to engage with the local Vikings and explore their homes and workshops. The Village is a reconstruction of a typical settlement that would have existed over a thousand years ago. History is brought to life through the residents of the Village as they impress you with their axe-throwing and archery skills and demonstrate traditional handicraft methods.
Join in the fun and give some of the activities a go, or get to know the locals better by asking questions and listening to their entertaining tales.
After the visit at the Viking Village we will return to Flam for a visit to the Ægir brewery. Learn more about beer making and this local brand before enjoying a delicious beer tasting.

Three unique and exciting ways to see one of Norway’s most scenic areas. Immerse yourself in one of Norway’s most picturesque regions by rail, on foot and with a thrilling zip line ride.
Hop on the train at Flam station and enjoy the relaxing climb into the mountains. This world-famous railway will treat you to awe-inspiring views of sheer cliffs and verdant hillsides dotted with summer farms and shimmering lakes. Hop off briefly for photos at the majestic Kjosfossen Waterfall, where rushing waters fall 300 feet and smash into the rocky hillside.
At Vatnahalsen, the penultimate station on the line, gear up to ride the longest zip-line in Scandinavia. Feel free as a bird and soak up the incredible views as you soar high above the beautiful landscape, zooming down the 4,500-foot line.
With your feet firmly on the ground in Kaardal, follow your guide on a downhill hike back to the valley floor. Enjoy the peaceful countryside as you make your way to Blomheller station to re-board the train and return to Flam.

Mount Floyen hike
Your tour starts at the pier where you will meet your guide and walk to Fløibanen station.
From the lower station of Fløibanen, the ride takes approximately 8 minutes to the top of Mount Fløien at some 1,000 feet (320 m). On the way up, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Bergen and surroundings. Fløien hills are a very popular recreation area used by the locals all the year round.
The hiking tour starts on one of the many gravel roads, through slightly hilly woodland to the little, idyllic lake called Skomakerdiket, then uphill to join the main path, Blåmansveien. As you get higher, the view gets better! The fjord with a multitude of islands lies beneath you as well as the town, and far out to the West the North Sea.
Head up the Rundemansvegroad and, as you leave the trees behind, there is a wide view to all sides when reaching the highest point, Rundemanen, at some 1,800 feet.
After a well-deserved break, you will return to the Funicular station for the ride back, and join your ship after a 15-minute walk back.

Bryggen walking tour
Bergen is a city full of contrasts, a mixture of new and old side by side. This walking tour takes you along the Bergenhus fortress dating back to the Middle Ages with the old coronation hall and the tower of Rosenkranz.
Shortly after, reach Bryggen, a city composed of old Hanseatic merchant buildings which had been damaged in 1702, when a disastrous fire struck the area. After the fire, they were rebuilt to look as they had during the Middle Ages. The whole area is now protected and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The guided tour will lead you up one of the narrow alleyways running between the rows of houses. Today, artists and craftsmen have moved in, and facing the harbour are restaurants and shops of various kinds. The Hanseates settled in Bergen in the middle of the 14th century. They had the monopoly on the trade with Northern Norway for nearly 300 years that was a barter trade: the Norwegians from the North part of the country brought their stock fish, dried cod, to Bergen and went back with grain, spices, textiles etc.
Discover St Mary's church from outside, the oldest stone building in town. In former days, it was called "the German church" because it was solely used by the Hanseatic merchants who have adorned the church over the centuries with several precious objects.
Thereafter, walk on to Schötstuene, a series of assembly rooms. The Schötstuene complex is comprised of four assembly rooms and two cookhouses, where the food was prepared and social life went on. You should not miss a visit to the kitchen, neither to the living quarters in the back!
Before returning to the harbour, you will visit the Bryggen museum, an archeological museum housing findings from the Middle Ages.

From the pier, board your local coach for a short drive to Ulriken cable car entrance.
From here, enjoy a five-minute ascent to the top of Mount Ulriken. The city of Bergen is proud of its cable car system, which ascends over 2,100 feet above the sea level in only few minutes. Its highest point is above the tree line, affording a 360-degree view. The view is breathtaking. On the top, refreshments and snacks are served while your guide give you a short brief. Then, you are free to go for a short hike, to take time for contemplation and photographs.
After descending back, get back to your local coach for a short transfer through the city, on the way to the new Fantoft Stave Church, rebuilt after the fire in 1992 that destroyed the old church from 1150. The new church is constructed exactly like the ones that were built in the Middle Ages, using timber from the Sognefjord area north of Bergen. Only 30 of these very typical churches remain nowadays in Norway, when they were at least 800 in the Middle Ages.
On your way back to the pier, enjoy a short city sightseeing.
