PONANT invites you to discover the Atlantic coastline with a 9-day cruise. During this exceptional journey aboard Le Lapérouse, let the wild and melancholic beauty of the British, Irish and French coasts surprise you.
Throughout your journey, you will benefit from an excursion included per person per port of call, to choose from a selection offered by PONANT. During this cruise, visit the Navan Fort archaeological site near Warrenpoint, fill up on chlorophyll in the Lost Gardens of Heligan, leaving from Fowey, or discover the Médoc region’s famous “Route des Châteaux” in Pauillac. From Glasgow, the largest city in Scotland, boasting a convivial atmosphere and authentic charm, you will sail to Portrush, where you can visit the Giant's Causeway. This massive geological formation is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and features over 40,000 basalt columns. Then you will call in Warrenpoint, a seaside resort nestling in an exceptional natural environment.
You will make a stop in Cobh. This charming and romantic town, steeped in history and legend, will reveal itself through its maze of cobbled streets with, in the background, its 17th-century fortress and its majestic forest.
Then, mythical Cornwall will reveal itself. In Fowey, you will marvel at Mother Nature’s masterpieces. There, you will discover a spellbinding environment of majestic cliffs and vast natural spaces, conducive to escape and tranquillity.
You will cross the English Channel and reach the Breton coastlines with a first port of call in Roscoff. You will be enchanted by this port full of character, which is easily recognisable through its granite facades, testimony to a rich architectural heritage dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries.
You will then head for the Quiberon peninsula. Here, you will discover a dreamy setting between two seas with breathtaking scenery: on one side, the Atlantic Ocean and its wild coastline; on the other, Quiberon Bay and its sandy beaches.
Le Lapérouse will sail along the Atlantic front to the Gironde estuary. During your port of call in Pauillac, among other things, you will have the opportunity to enjoy several visits and wine tastings at some very beautiful wine estates in the Saint-Estèphe, Margaux and Pauillac appellations.
Your cruise will end in Bordeaux, considered the wine capital of the world.

Its historic centre is brimming with relics from the past: the magnificent granite mansions of shipowners, the Notre-Dame-de-Croaz-Batz gothic church, and the Old Port, once the stronghold of smugglers and merchants. The town is also known for its foreshore, which boasts a rich algal biodiversity. Day 2 - Edinburgh/Greenock
Your full day tour begins with a walking tour of the city. See the Georgian architecture of Princes Street in New Town and drive down parts of the famous medieval Royal Mile with the imposing Edinburgh Castle at one end and the 17th century Palace of Holyroodhouse at the other. The Palace was the home of Mary Queen of Scots from 1561 to 1568 and was occupied by Bonnie Prince Charlie in 1745. The scene of many a great historical drama including notorious murders, and power-hungry personalities, the Palace is now the Queen's official residence in Scotland. You will head to one of the city's high vantage points for some spectacular views over the city before visiting the castle.
A majestic landmark which dominates the capital city's skyline just as it has dominated Scotland's long and colourful history, Edinburgh Castle is the best known & most visited of Scotland's historic buildings. Perched on an extinct volcano and offering stunning views, this instantly recognisable fortress is a powerful national symbol, and part of Edinburgh's World Heritage Sites.
Once inside, you will have the opportunity to see the castle's many different architectural styles, reflecting its importance throughout the history of Scotland, with the oldest section dating back to the 12th century. You will also have the opportunity to view the Crown Jewels of Scotland and the Stone of Destiny.
Lunch will be served in a local restaurant.
After lunch, take a journey through the history and alchemy of whisky. Here you will enjoy a dram.
You will then be transferred to the port of Greenock in Glasgow, to embark on board your ship.

Day 2 – Edinburgh - Peebles
You board your transportation after breakfast this morning and embark on a full-day tour, leaving the city behind you and heading into the glorious countryside. Make your first stop at Traquair House, the oldest inhabited house in Scotland. Explore the impressive rooms of what was originally a royal hunting lodge and visited by no fewer than 27 kings and queens. On your guided tour, you also discover the history of the famous Bear Gates, which were closed indefinitely behind Bonnie Prince Charlie as he rode away in 1745.
Enjoy a traditional lunch at this historic venue, before continuing on to the historic and beautiful Rosslyn Chapel. Situated in the little village of Roslin, this ornately decorated chapel was built in the 1400s and took over 40 years to complete. Practically every surface of the building is covered in intricate carvings depicting bible stories and local history including that of the Holy Grail highlighted in Dan Brown’s novel The Da Vinci Code. Take your time to explore the breath-taking details and soak up the remarkable atmosphere of this peaceful place. Let your guide explain the meanings behind the carvings and the numerous theories, myths and legends.
Following your visit, you transfer the short distance towards Peebles and your accommodation at Barony Castle Hotel. Dinner this evening is at your hotel’s award-winning 1536 Restaurant.
Day 3 – Peebles
Board your transportation after breakfast and set off into the charming Scottish Borders region, the picturesque area of rolling hills and farmland lying between Edinburgh and the boundary between Scotland and England. The salmon-rich River Tweed gently winds its way through this bucolic landscape, which you explore on a full day excursion. Although a peaceful region today, it was long fought over between England and Scotland in the late Middle Ages.
Once great medieval monasteries now survive as romantic ruins including Dryburgh Abbey, your first stop this morning. On your visit you take in the atmospheric setting and witness the final resting place of Scotland's national novelist Sir Walter Scott. It was this part of Scotland that he made his home, building a fairy tale house in Scots Baronial style called Abbotsford, which is your next visit of the day. Check out his personal library and study, as well as the colourful gardens, whose lawns sweep down to the river and which provided an ideal place to stimulate his creative imagination.
Lunch will be served in a local restaurant, before you proceed to the charming town of Melrose, which hosts even more dramatic and beautiful ruins, including the 12th-century Melrose Abbey, the burial place of the heart of Robert the Bruce, a medieval King of Scotland and considered a national hero. On your return journey to Peebles, stop for a photo opportunity at Scott’s View, taking in the stunning panorama of rolling farmlands, woodlands and the three peaks of the Eildon Hills.
You return to your accommodation at Barony Castle Hotel and dinner this evening is at your hotel’s award-winning 1536 Restaurant.
Day 4 – Peebles - Greenock
Board your transportation after breakfast this morning and head west to Glasgow, the largest city in Scotland.
Glasgow has many interesting sites to visit, including Kelvingrove Art Museum and Gallery, housed in an impressive Edwardian sandstone building on the banks of the River Kelvin. Home to an eclectic array of internationally significant collections, it boasts a fine selection of works by French Impressionists. As you continue your tour, discover how Glasgow became an artistic centre during its industrial heyday, with celebrated designers like Charles Rennie Mackintosh offering an interesting contribution to the European art movement of the early 20th century with a distinctive interpretation of the Art Nouveau style.
Lunch will be served in a local restaurant.
Glasgow’s heritage is also closely linked with shipbuilding, and you can see models of the ships built in the local shipyards on your final stop at the Riverside Museum. Here, some of the finest cars, bikes and other vehicles can also be seen, including one of the oldest Rolls Royces in the world!
After your visit, you are transferred to the port of Greenock to embark on board your ship.
